1. Post compelling, vivid photos
It goes without saying that the must crucial part of any successful vape shop Instagram page is images.
When it comes to Instagram the higher the image quality the better. While high res, high quality photos and videos consistently work the best on Instagram, image quality isn't the only requirement for an engaging page.
2. Create context with your images
Just as important as image quality is photo context. Images that demonstrate user experience and/or display emotion work well so don't be afraid to experiment with location and people, not just product.
Below are a few examples of highly engaging vaping Instagram images to get your creative juices flowing.
The post above received over 1000 likes and while it's a photo from a vaping trade show it clearly demonstrates that using in store display photos to promote your vape business work well.
Similarly the photo below which clearly shows emotion (happiness, joy) around a new vape mod also received over 1000 likes.
3. Make short videos and post to IGTV
Arguably one of the easiest ways to create a traffic pulling Instagram page, drive engagement and build a following is with video.
If you're thinking, sure, I know that, but I don't have the equipment to make good videos think again. The best part about Instagram videos is they don't need to be super high quality - just record and upload directly from your phone. It's the norm.
Important - Videos must be vertical and between 15 seconds and 10 minutes long.
So what to you make videos about? To help I've put together a short list of ideas.

Vape tricks - vape trick videos are very popular on Instagram and often get lots of views, likes and comments.
If you don't have a staff member who can do tricks don't worry I'm sure there are plenty of customers who would love to help you in return for a free juice or discount.
Vape product education - next time you have a customer come into the store wanting to know more about a particular mod why not record the demonstration and post it. People will love that you're taking the time to teach them how to use their mods correctly.
Customer photos - talking about customers, a great way to boost your engagement is to take photos of customers in store when they purchase their new mods and vape kits. When you do this make sure you ask them for their Instagram name so you can @tag them in your photo post.
So now you have few suggestions to get you going it's up to you to start being creative.
4. @tag your customers
What is an @tag? It's basically when you mention someone in your post.
To do this simply type @ followed immediately by their username (example: "great photo, @martyb"). Don't include a space between @ and the username.
When you mention someone, they'll get a notification in their Activity feed letting them know and this is a great way to get more followers.
Using the example of a customer purchase in store you could say something like this.
@maryb great to see you in store today hope you love the new @wotofooffical squonk.
5. Use vape related hashtags #
If you read most posts about Instagram marketing they will advise you to limit the number of # hashtags you use in a post. While this may be true for some topics it doesn't really fly with the vaping community.
In fact using #hashtags is a great way to drive more exposure to your Instagram posts which in turn will lead to more comments, likes and followers.
So how do Instagram hashtags work?
Whenever a user adds a hashtag to their post, it's able to be indexed by Instagram and becomes searchable/discoverable by other users.
Many Instagram users either tap on a hashtag in a post or do a # hashtag search to discover more images and videos related to the topic.
So hashtags are a great way to boost your Instagram post exposure and gain more followers.
If you're not sure which hashtags to use just head over to best-hashtags and do a search for vape hashtags. This will bring up a list of the top vape related hashtags that you can simply copy and paste into your post.
Now you know what vape hashtags are and how to use them to boost your Instagram posts I want to share one more tip related to hashtags.
Use hashtag search to find inspiration for your own posts.
As an example, the image above shows the results for a search using the hashtag #RDA. The top post for this hashtag is a short video. The video has nearly 6000 likes and 41 comments.
As a vape shop your goal is to search for what's working on Instagram and then produce your own similar content. It's that simple.
7. Post content regularly to keep interest and engagement high
To keep your follows interested and engaged it's important to post content regularly, but what is regularly?
As a start up vape business posting once a day or every second day is enough to keep your audience interested. Whatever posting frequency you choose the goal here is to keep it consistent.
8. Use Instagram Direct to Contact Specific Users
While it goes without saying that posting frequently is a good idea you don't need to always post content to all of your followers.
Instead you can use Instagram direct to target a specific group of users by privately direct messaging them a photo or video.
